Lead Paint

Information iconLead-based paint poses serious health hazards and is still a serious concern in Iowa. Many homes built before 1978 contain lead-based paint hazards, both inside the house and outside the house. Landlords are required to tell tenants about any known lead-based paint hazards before leases are signed. Landlords performing certain renovations in a building built before 1978 are also required to provide notice to the tenant.
